Ordinary medicines

Kusu carries a large varieties of medicines with him. He's mentioned cures from overseas as well as lotions and charms. He also keeps ingredients for incense. In the nue story, he mentions that he only carries ordinary products because he is too poor to buy rarer medicines like oleander.

In the noppera-bo story, Kusuriuri mentions that he does not believe medicines can cure everything. A customer he encountered became enraged with this notion, calling Kusu a fraud and calling the authorities on him.

Given the timeframe and herbs he refers to in the series, the closest sort of medicine I could find is Kanpo, a medicine technique carried over from China then modified in Japan.

Several useful Kanpo formulas:
>>Augmented rambling powder - Kamishoyosan
Treats: headaches, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, abdominal pain.
>>Balloon Flower Root Decoction - Kikkyoto
Treats: common cold
>>Calm the middle powder - Anchusan
Treats: indigestion, heartburn, bloating
>>Calm the stomach powder - Heiisan
>>Intestinal carbuncle decoction - Choyoto
Treats: abdominal pains, the runs
>>Ledebouriella Powder that Sagely Unblocks - Bofutsushosan
Treats: many blocked things. Intestines, sinuses, stomach
>>Major order of the Qi decoction - Daijokito
Treats: constipation, abdominal pain
>>Tangkuei Decoction for Frigid Extrimities - Tokishigyakuto
Treats: cold hands and feet, chilled feeling
>>Tangkuei and Tribulus Combination - Tokiinshi
Treats: dry skin, flakiness, dandruff

The rest will probably be made up. There are hundreds of formulas and not a lot of information on all of them.

Basic techniques and wards

Salt
Drawing a circle of salt around a room serves as a basic barrier against a mononoke. This technique requires the circle not to be broken or touched to be effective and requires a lot of salt. The salt can be disturbed if touched or a severe emotion, usually fear, hatred, or regret, affects the area and the mononoke reacts to it.

Ash
Like salt, ash from a wood-burning fireplace can form a barrier. Many of the properties are the same as with salt, with one added property. The ash must be pure and only from wood. Any contaminations, such as a rope tying the wood together, will render the ash barrier ineffective.

Ball of light

The exact ingredients are unknown, however Kusuriuri mentions that a main ingredient is gunpowder, which he keeps in his medicine case. Mixing and grinding the ingredients takes time, but once done, he places it in a construct which pops up into a sphere. Like many of Kusuriuri's creations, the sphere is capable of floating on its own towards its destination. The light it produces is blinding and cannot be looked at.

This ball is used to combat an ayakashi at sea which blocked out the sunlight and attempted to ensnare the ship. The light pushed the ayakashi away and allowed the ship to continue on its journey.
